How to Start Growing Your Chillis
Half fill the plastic container with water and add the peat pellets.
When swollen to full size remove from the water and squeeze slightly. Use the dibber to make a small hole in the top of each peat pellet, add a chilli seed and cover with a little of the peat using your finger.
Place the container lid on a shelf or windowsill out of direct sunlight (make sure that the lip is pointing up so that when you water your seedlings the water can't escape) lay the plant labels so that you will be able to identify your plants as they grow then stand the peat pellets on the tray, put the plastic container over the top to make the mini greenhouse (keeps the humidity high to aid germination and means that you will not have to water as often)
Make sure that the peat pellets stay damp but not wet until the leaves start to form, you can then remove the greenhouse lid (or leave it on if you find that you are having to water too often). Do not let the peat pellets dry out as this is a common cause of germination failure, young seedlings are also very delicate and have trouble recovering if they have been allowed to droop.
When roots start to appear in the sides of the peat pellets plant the whole thing in a small pot with potting compost (the netting is biodegradable and does not need to be removed) The advantage of the peat pellets is that you will be able to pot on the new seedlings without any root disturbance. Put the plant labels in or around the pots for easy identification of your new chilli plants. See the free growing guide that comes with your order for details of how to treat growing, flowering and fruiting plants.
Please browse the site or email if you would like to order more packs of seeds, more plant labels or more peat pellets, remember your mini greenhouse is reusable so why not grow more chilli plants!
